In grade school, we had an outside court. Winter games were trecherous. Ice and snow. Frozen fingers and then someone slapping your ice cold ears. Painfull! We never had a goal at home and a lot of farmwork kept me on the elementary ball team as a sub for the "B" team. Needless to say, I attended few games.
